Media Used: ink, coffee, pen, charcoal, on paper
“Returning to Our Unconscious Reality…” by Christina Rodriguez | RedBubble
My illustration…
Yesterday was a particular stressful day for me full of various raging emotions…I have not painted or drawn in awhile, but I felt the urge to touch the paper and mix my pastels, pouring my day out on paper… Their is a small figure on the lower right hand corner, which I could not help but add in there. I feel that is myself, trying to hide and cover myself from this storm. To me within the drawing, it looks like a giant flower above me that is crumbling under this relentless storm… Media Used: pastels on black mi-teintes paper 9 × 12
A translation for the SoJie 14 workshop
This was a piece inspired by Anthea Slade’s beautiful piece, ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’.
She reveals just enough to entice
But not enough to answer all the questions
She provokes us to think
She stimulates us to feel as
She is hidden and unexplained
-Anthea Slade

Here are the WIP images. It was such a pleasure to work with this piece…thank you Anthea so much. Instantly I felt a connection to this piece. As of late, I have not been able to visit my art store to buy any new materials. I have been saving charcoal and pastels for irresistible urges. So for this piece I used a variety of mixed materials such as pastels, charcoal, coffee, and toothpaste.
The only title I felt could possibly go with this piece, would be ‘Anthea’…

Media Used: pastels, charcoal, coffee, toothpaste on mi-tientes paper 12 × 18
This piece is very important to me, I seem to have lost inspiration this past summer…times are hard now, but I am looking to my art once again for solace…I really did enjoy working on this piece through the sojie 14 workshop. It brought my work back to life. I have found solace again. It feels like a new day…
A self portrait, my daughters and I…
A very emotional piece for me depicting the stress I often feel as a struggling mom. Often feeling bounded, emotionless to all except my children…but despite it all my children are always with me, they are my inspiration for all I do…
The pink fleshy part at the bottom, representing my cesarean I had with both my children…very traumatic experience for me, each operation took almost a year to heal from…
Media Used: plaster, wire mesh, gouache, oil-based clay

For an upcoming publication next month in EIA magazine I have developed a new site. Please check it and review it via www.wix.com/drkgrphks/christina

I spoke to the Editor In Chief of www.everythingisart.cc. It is a new magazine targeted to showcase upcoming artist and introduce their art to the world! The next issue will be out in September of this year, where I will be featured in a four page spread. :-)
Here is a blurb on the aim of this magazine: “The creation of this magazine arose from the need to give a platform for artists to speak their piece. The term emerging artist is an insult – as no artist emerges but is born. Anybody that can create a flash of the world as they see it thru their own eyes is an artist. Period. If you don’t agree, well, let’s agree to disagree. Because EVERYTHING IS ART.”
I will update additional information later on as the project progresses. I have been advised I should begin working on a new site to showcase my work instead of using the redbubble site. Although it is very good to sell prints, it is not the best to promote my artwork. So I will be working on a new site and have it ready by September.
On Ami James’ facebook page, he posted his recent interview with everythingisart.cc. Ami James earned this featured not as a celebrity, as an artist. Here is the link to the interview.

His interview starts on page 130

‘Denied Femininity of Mine’
hmmmm….was having a long day when I did this piece…I suffer from an anxiety and panic disorder. I thought I had been doing good those past weeks, I guess not everyday can be a good day for me. I was feeling very tired, and lost…I wanted to gain my focus back so I began to draw…Feel a little bad, ignoring everyone around me….but….I needed to reflect…
Media Used: pastels, charcoal on charcoal paper 12 × 18

How to Obtain Commissioned Artwork From Me!
Interested, please read the information below and contact me via drk.grphks@gmail.com.
I am offering commissions on artwork done in my unique artistic style. Maybe you are just looking for a unique piece of artwork. I will work with any size ground, canvas, or paper. The larger the better!
Shipping and handling fees at the most are $17-$40, Fedex. All artwork ships express to reduce damage. The artwork can also be mounted on a mounting board, depending on the size requested. That requires an additional fee. Depending on the size of the piece, the mounting board prices can range from $5-$20. Mounting it provides better protection, and makes it easier to put up somewhere in your house.
If you do not want it mounted or if you plan on putting the artwork it in a proper frame, I can send the artwork in a roll-up tube. Very convienant. All pieces will be spray with a fixative before being sent out.
Here are the fees:
Artwork can also be done on a canvas of any size, price is negotiable.
All original artwork will be signed (by me), sprayed with a fixative, and shipped out accordingly. Cancellation Fee is $10.
Right now I am only excepting payment through paypal and money orders.
I will be participating in this SoJie workshop where someone will, hopefully, pick my digital work and translate it in their own way using a traditional or digital media. Very excited about this! :-)
Here is the piece I have chosen to be translated:
